Study Journey in Rome

Bibliothek  Max-Planck-Institut für Kunstgeschichte During my study journey this summer in Rome, about Roman Villas and Creativity, I am doing research outdoors and  some  indoors: Based in Rome, the Bibliotheca Hertziana is one of the institutes in the humanities and social sciences section of the  Max-Planck-Gesellschaft  (MPG).   It was opened in 1913 under the umbrella of the Kaiser Wilhelm Society which had been founded only two years earlier. Situated in central Rome, in the immediate vicinity of the famous Spanish Steps, the Bibliotheca Hertziana owes its existence to the generosity of Henriette Hertz (1846–1913), who provided the Palazzo Zuccari – complete with a well-stocked specialist library and an extensive photographic collection – as the seat of the research institute. Henriette Hertz wanted to create an institute that was dedicated to »the study of art and culture, from the Renaissance on up, especially in relation to Rome as the nucleus of European culture«

van de Velde

Caus Laemmle  was a perfect client and a great support for our van de Velde Project.  Together with armstrong dlw, kvadrat and knauf, who greatly supported our workshop, we organized a three months project with students from University of Applied Sciences and Arts in Coburg. Starting at Claus Laemmle's van de Velde exhibition in Weimar we had the chance to get into deep with van de Veldes design of Schloss Lauterbach in Saxonia.  Claus and Claudia Laemmle as owners offered the students one room in their castle for their design. But not only a room, but also lots of enthusiasm, space and support, not to mention two gorgeous workshops in Schloss Lauterbach.  The task was to build a prototype of an intervention into the room through a temporary installation alongside the ideas of Henry van de Velde. The idea is to use the student's work for the creation of a permanent installation. See more about Schloss Lauterbach, Henry van de Velde and Claus Laemmle bueroplasz at: ard (ge

Light Workshop at Coburg University of Applied Sciences

Michael Müller and I arranged a lighting workshop with students from University of Applied Sciences and Arts in Coburg. It is part of the renovation process of the Main Entrance Hall of Coburg University. Students of Interior Architecture had the chance to design a lighting fixture in four parts. The task was to change the atmosphere into a part of the Corporate Identity of the University through a temporary installation. The idea is to use the student's work for the creation of a permanent light installation and therefore to have the chance become part of the "real world".

Zukunftsforum Schreiner

Schreiner und Designer - Carpernter and Designer 21./22.6.2013 For the 2013 future congress of bavaria's carpenter guild I was asked to hold two lectures about the collaboration between designers and carpenters in our own projects. I intended to show how such collaborations are able to be creative and bring up new ideas if both partners are willing and able to leave their comfort zones. Leaving your comfort zone means entering the risk zone and it means the only possibility for growth and invention.
